Alright, so I was having issues with my headlight so I replaced the bulb and now it works great. But I looked inside the bulb where it plugs in and it looks weird. Could it be the plug in that caused that problem in the first place?

It had the 'rainbow' color(like how headers get)...I know I sound retarded but almost all the pins looked like that at the base of them.

the connector was getting rather hot perhaps?
That's what my dad told me, what can I do to fix that? Just buy a new connector?

i guess so, unless it was caused by a short somewhere.

maybe the connector wasn't plugged in completely and was arching. and that was causing the extra current flow thus the extra heat

So now that I replaced the bulb and it's plugged in all the way I should be fine, right?

that electric grease stuff is the best. my grandpa uses it on his boat trailer and it never shorts out anywhere and the trailer is probably 30 years old.

should be fine but if your still worried put dielectric grease in it.

Agree whole-heartedly. I ALWAYS put dielectric grease on all my bulb connections. Moisture and corrosion are the worst thing for a bulb socket, and the grease keeps that from happening.
