ok so I work with fire alarms and security systems, and my boss has this chip burner to get and burn all kind of chips, he was showing me there are about 5000 different companys chips that he can get their info off the chip and also reprogram them. I guess I was wondering what kind of chips are in the computer. What computer do we have again. the 5.0 with 5sp? I was thinking about getting another computer and taking it apart to play with all that bc my boss was interested in seeing if we can reprogram it. That would be pretty sweet to be able to program it right at work!!!

Any information about the computer would be awsome.
I know its kind of a crazy question

thanks

The tune in our cars is usually modified from the service port by overwriting the factory maps. I am not aware of any "reflashing" that can be done to the actual ECU ROM. Then again, I've never spit the ECU case open, just a tweecer's (uses an fpga) so I kinda took the black box approach to answering your question (lol).

Reflashing is not done with OBD 1 computers.

Reflashing is a OBD II PCM, meaning 1996+

LIke he said. you have to get another chipset that would modify the factory code. whenever something is plugged into the J3 service port, it overrides the ECU.
