Any timeslips? Shiny paint is all well and good, but I want to see some performance to back it up.

Im really not trying to be rude paul because you do contribute a lot to the site and get involved in the threads and stuff which is really cool and the more active members we have, the better. But half the post I see from you are negative posts.. not everyone can afford an SCCA style race car. id be willing to bet that more than 70% of the members on here are under the age of 24 and i would be willing to bet that most of those pay for their cars themselves or are in college where they can't afford to mod it. with only a handful of active members its pretty hard to get cars that are all around performance, exterior looks, and interior...

if you don't agree with the nominees you don't have to vote for any. i just dont like how you criticize every person on the forums about their cars, or whether or not they are being truthful, or how they go about doing business. again im not trying to be a dick head it just seems everytime someone posts something you have to say something negative. (not everytime but mostly all the threads I see... sorry if i am wrong.)

also, i dont really know who I am going to choose for ROTM so ill get back to it.

I'm sorry, but where in this thread did I say anything negative about the cars?

not everyone can afford an SCCA style race car.

Nor would I expect people to. SRT made the statement: Power > Handling ...which was sort of like preaching to the choir. What type of performance venue you're into is really irrelevant to me, I just want to see the data to support it.

id be willing to bet that more than 70% of the members on here are under the age of 24 and i would be willing to bet that most of those pay for their cars themselves or are in college where they can't afford to mod it. with only a handful of active members its pretty hard to get cars that are all around performance, exterior looks, and interior...

The cars in this thread all have at least a thousand bucks in mods, so let's not be naive. Entry fees for the Friday Night Drags or a single Auto-X event are a small fraction of what just the wheels and tires cost on these cars. I worked full time while going to college and paid for every dime of what went into my car, so I fully understand budgetary constraints. All I want to know is if any of the cars in this thread have actually had their performance measured in some venue. (e.g. Road Race, Drag Race, Auto-X, whatever)

if you don't agree with the nominees you don't have to vote for any.

I simply don't want to base my vote solely on which one has the nicest paint. (in which case I'd pick the blue one)

i just dont like how you criticize every person on the forums about their cars, or whether or not they are being truthful, or how they go about doing business. again im not trying to be a dick head it just seems everytime someone posts something you have to say something negative. (not everytime but mostly all the threads I see... sorry if i am wrong.)

Again, please point out where I've said negative things about people's cars. I will call someone out if they make a statement I believe to be inaccurate.

Perfect, THAT is the information I'm looking for. Post some pictures, times, or whatever from one of those events. While other might base their vote on how the car looks, I would base it upon how it performs. Different strokes for different folks, and like it or not, that's a big part of how I evaluate a car.

Paul.

WOW... I don't know how I missed this, I've been sorta busy the last couple weeks.

first of all it's just cool to be nominated, so to the couple of votes I've gotten... well, thanks alot guys. :drunk:

I really don't think my car is ready for anything like this though. I'm certainly not done with the car (but who really is...?) and I should have some more substantial mods being worked on this winter.

I know this won't make much difference... but here is my modest mod list just in case anybody is curious as to what I've done to the car.

-------------------------

BBS RK – silver finish
Falken FK452’s

Smoked headlights
Shorty Antenna
Mustang floor mats
Assorted Interior peices

BZ painted:
mirrors and stb

K&N filter
Hurst Shifter
DM Speedcal

Bassani Equal-length ceramic headers
Bassani O/R X-pipe
Bassani BX catback

H&R super sports
Tokico struts
MM 4-bolt c/c plates
25mm spacers
Mach I Calipers (polished)
Power Slot rotors
SS lines

Removed all Smog Controls
- 88.5†belt, no idle pulley
14* of timing
- 91-93 octane fuel

I think that pretty much sums it up, I just turned over 50k miles :'( but again, I don't think I really classify for ROTM, but thanks for the props guys.

here's a couple more pics for the heck of it.

I've never had a chance to run my car. I would love to see what it could do in it's rather stock trim but I simply never got the chance this summer.

My car is also my daily driver (currently looking for a winter/dd). I work evenings, attend classes at day, and work every weekend. If I ever do ask off for a weekend it is usually to attend a car show or go back home to visit family. This doesn't leave me with much/if any free time. I have done very well at various car shows but realize some people (generally myself included) like to see a car with the total package (ie. look great, and perform great as well, whether it be in a straight line or otherwise).

My car was completely stock as of February of this year. After totalling my 98 this past january I found this car with 43k miles and had it shipped to my door. I love working on the car and learning as I go. I don't know much motor wise which is why I wanted a stock/unmolested car to start with.

None of this really has any bearing on ROTM, but I just felt compelled to share my situation and why the car doesn't have anymore mods than it does. I also don't believe that a truly nice car is all in the performance mods. I think the amount of detail and averall condition of a car should play a large roll. (I feel that the current nominations do fall into this category)

BTW... I change shoes everytime I drive my car... if that doesn't make me nuts I don't know what does, but that's gotta count for something doesn't it. :drunk:

and one last thing ---i promise this is it--- I don't think it is ever really fair to judge cars online... I've seen some cars that look great in photos, but seeing them in person you realize they aren't taken care of and it shows. I don't think the number of mods really shows how nice a car is, instead, it shows how much money was available to spend on the car.

I have to agree with you, and I was telling Wyotech this morning that Judging by a photo isnt a great thing, there is an amazing amount of stuff that can be enhanced in a photo.
