thats exactly what an exhaust leak sounds like....

simply a tick. you cant hear it change at different RPMs because your exhaust muffles it out... Fix the exhaust leak before you disassemble anything. Check for oil on the back area of the motor and engine bay while you're in there as a valve cover gasket might be leaking and leaking out noise from the valve-train (if nothing else.)

what kind of headers do you have? what kind of valve covers do you have? is the A/C on the passenger side of the Tbird, too? The valve cover gaskets can be easy enough to do, it just depends on whats in your way....

You really cannot expect this car to run perfectly, it's an older car with it's share of mileage, things are bound to break/wear. That's part of owning a used car. Hell be lucky that's all your having problems with my Mom has a '05 Pontiac G6 with the 3.5L V6 and her CEL won't go off because of some dumbass sensor or something to do with the fuel system, and she's on her 2nd transmission. Not to mention her sunroof leaks, and every piece of plastic rattles in that car. Be thankful you only have an exhaust leak.
