Think about what that piece of plastic does, though. I'm not sure where I heard this @, but it will never need replacing again. I don't know if that is even for that part. I am kinda anal when it comes to my mileage now! Spending $40 for something that keeps that in full bloom, not a bad deal @ all.

I guess when you have been hit by a 400 lb ATV going about 30-40 MPH, left in a coma for 3 months, that kinda puts thing in perspective. It took me not to get upset @ this kind of worthless crap. Please just don't go through what I went through to understand this! Is it really worth it? I was all wound up tighter than a string before my wreck. I'm either be like I am, mellow as hell, or in a full-blown raging fit! I try not to let that side out to play as much as I can.

Ok so the part came in today. I am in the middle of replacing it now but I just wanted to show yall the difference.....

but when you consider the cost of manufacturing the part, and even the price that the distributors buy it for, $40 is outrageous. i wouldnt hesitate to say that mustangsunlimited probably buys those gears for less than $.50 each. you do the math on the markup for that little piece of plastic.

it reminds me of someone i know that works at a Best Buy who does purchasing for their store(s?). an HDMI cable that they sell for upwards $100, they buy for roughly less than $5. There's supply and demand, theres high manufacturing costs, and then there's just plain ignorance when it comes to charging people something completely ridiculous for something that costs nowhere near the price that the last person in the chain bought it for.

but then again, if people are willing to pay for it, why not sell it at that price.

for the record, if they do buy that piece for less than $.50 like I would think they probably do, and theyre reselling it for $40, thats over 900% mark-up. 90% of the stuff I sell here at my work, sells for roughly 15-30% profit, which is where most retail companies usually sit, unless youre a car dealership or some other company selling "specialty" products.

Replaced the two pieces and got it all put back together, ill drive it around in a little while to see how it does.

Getting the motor off was a bit of a pain in the pass but other than that everything went smooth. Going for a test drive.

i bought a white face gauged cluster and used my existing gauge motors. i had to do some trickery to get the gauges to be close to accurate. but then again i have after market gauges.
