4.10 gears, longtubes headers, x-pipe, BFG or MT drag radials = mid 14's all day.

Is the car an auto or manual. First things first, address any traction issue you might have. TIRES!!!

Autos are so slow ,alot of is in the tunning and the trans is a slush box a 2800 stall and 3.73 will start getting it out its own way. otherwise just change yhe exhaust and cruise it. Its hard to get results out of these years in an auto and a vert on top of that sorry to bare the bad news to ya. but if you want to get in the 14's
follow this
tune up plugs wires rotor cap fuel filter set timing at 12
cai
off road h or x
2.5 cat back
try this way first then a tune and then
a gear which requires a tune ive been told
and a stall

good luck
