Hey everyone, this may be the wrong sub forum if so just let me know but since I'm new I was just trying to get some opinions or thought out of everyone!

Thing I want to know :

I have a 2V GT 4.6 I want to know if there is things I can do to it to make it faster vs. doing a 5.4l 2v, 3v, 4v swap....or should I/ would it be better to just scrap the 4.6 for a 5.4? Just looking at ideas, opinions, and thoughts..

Depends on how much power you want, budget, and whether you want to stay NA or go boost.

You can build the bottom end of the 2v and boost it to 500 hp, no problem at all.

That's my thing I've never been in a boosted stang any you'd think the feeling of boost kicking in on a heavier stang vs a light Evo MR or Honda would feel way different, so with weight to power ratio I'm not sure I'd be too satisfied with 450-550ish rwhp

All depends on what kind of boost. A turbo, centri, and roots will all hit differently

Also, an evo x has a curb weight of like 3500 lbs, the old evo 9s were lower, 3200~ IIRC, but still an sn95 has a curb weight in the 3300-3400 range so its not really much heavier and the torque will make up for that minimal weight anyway.

Basically a roots type blower like a KB will have instant power and torque everywhere.

A centri like a procharger or vortech builds boost with RPM so the power will just keep coming but never really "hit"

a turbo is the best option when it comes to making the most power and torque per PSI I would say and will hit HARD when it comes on

Again, it all comes down to what you want to do.

You could build the bottom end, throw turbo cams in it and turbo the 4.6 2v and make 600 rwhp on pump gas

I think you will be more than happy when 700 ft lb of tq hits in the mid range lol

If you really think you need more than that you could go with a 4v or a 5.4

justin is biased. FYI. (lol!!! ... you should see our facebook pages....)

anyways, if you put a positive displacement blower on it, it will become a panty dropper (no offence ladies.) ... i mean, boost instantly hits, puts you back in your seat, roast the motha ****in' tires through motha ****in' third gear... snappin' necks and cashin' checks, MAN. ... thats the way it is... ... got a stump in your back yard? BAM. its gone. Got a bar-b-q to haul to a picnic? BAM it even lights itself on the ride over. nead to pass those evo MRs off the line with their girly little AWD?? BAM 500 instant horsepower and slicks... ... peach out *****aazz...

(just so you know, i dont normally post like that.... this was a one time occurance for your entertainment. :) lol)

I had this dilemma years ago and decided to just build the 2V. Since I have a vert and don't want a 6 pt roll bar setup the 2V was plenty. It was actually cheaper then looking for other engines etc since I could recycle many of the parts I already owned. You can make a 400-500 rwhp/tq on boost rather easily and if you really want can go 700/800 if you want to drop the $$$$ on fuel system etc.

4V swap still intrigues me because those heads flow so damn much and are huge when you pop the hood, and the Coyote is just the shit but I would just buy a 96-98 Cobra if I went the 4V route.

Yeah the 5.4L of displacement with a twin turbo or compound turbo setup teases my belly button and makes me want to give it a go

Yep, thats why I recommend building the 2v and going turbo. It will be cost effective and you can seriously make 600-700 rwhp on pump gas if you want.

Having a positive displacement blower is cool but all you end up doing is spinning on the street and they fall off up top where you actually have traction and can use the power.

Id much rather have my turbo setup and 600 ft lb of tq at 4k rpms once im moving rather than wasting it spinning at 2k rpms, just my opinion of course.

from 1999-2004 ford put better designed heads on the 2v engines.

when you take the heads off the 99-04 mustangs and put them on the 96-98 mustangs, they not only give better flow, they also bump compression.... so for $50.00 worth of heads you find in the junk yard off a retired taxi cab, you get like 50 HP.....

plus the aftermarket makes more parts for the PI heads, opposed to the NPI heads.

haha, thats why I have that 6500 RPM converter in there man!

Once I get the stock PI cams back in it we will see where the torque is.

It should be around 3500-4k peak tq I would think, maybe the ported heads/intake will move it up to 4500, idk.

Either way, that will get me down the road faster than having it at 2k rpms lol

I know who im gonna call when I need some stumps removed though
