Personally I like terminator mirrors on our cars. With the paint match piece only painted.

yeah i just hate how it doesn't fit properly, and the export mirrors are way too expensive.

export mirrors? info pics? never heard of em

I only have one pic of them and you can't see them very well. They are just like 03 Cobra mirrors but fit on our cars perfectly instead of having that part that hangs down over the door.

edit: here are two i found with a quick search...

What kind of prep work is required prior to priming / painting for a painter to just spray them.
I have a S-281 wing going to the painter next week and I would like to do the mirrors also.
Thanks,

I've got another set of mirrors. I would keep these as they are. It really blends in with the trim around the window/door, etc. but I like how the whole mirror housing is painted on these as well.

I taped mine off, I thought it gave them a very factory look. There is a small seam going around the edge of the mirror

Now THAT actually looks alright.
I think I'm the only one that thinks painted mirrors look cheap.
Looks like maaco forgot to tape off the mirrors, IMO.

I don't see why you'd need to remove the mirror itself. You just tape off at the seam and that would cover the actual mirror too.

Pretty easy, I just pulled off the door panel to get access to the side mirror, then puled the side mirror off. I did remove the mirror it self, you dont have to but I think that it looks better with the whole mirror housing painted. To get the mirror off, Push the mirror in to one side so you can see behind it, and you will see some clips. Use like a hook or pick that you can get under that clip and gently pry it up, after you pry about two of the clips up it will pop out, not to bad. Then just sanded down with about 500 grit sandpaper so the paint would stick, then paint. :)

If you just sand it, your still going to get that bubbly texture on your mirrors. If you want it to be smooth and glossy put 3 coats of primer on it, sand it with 240 grit until its all smooth then paint it. Ive done a few mirrors including mine at my shop i work at.
