painted side mirrors

anybody partially paited (seen picture of) a side mirror?
i like the look of a painted side mirror but want to keep the part next to the window black, maybe a strip across the top with the side nect to the glass and the bottom black
i've been playing around on photo shop (don't know how to post pics) and it look pretty good
what do you think

The best thing to do if you want painted mirrors is to find a set of 03/04 cobra mirrors, and have them painted to match your car.

Very true, if you want that abs plastic look right by the window and the rest painted, The 03-04 is the way to go. plus they fold. I see your idea for doing it on a stock mirror, but the line would have to be perfect. It can be done and look good though.

I had mine painted and all they did was sand the mirror to get that plastic look off of it. They are smooth now, i think the stock mirrors look better painted. They flow very well with the car.

I just went with the stock side mirrors and painted them. I think it looks the cleanest.

Check out Thorco's mirrors. If I remember correctly, he masked off the back side of it next to the mirror, looks pretty OE IMO
