why? ... i was leaning towards paint matching them. black bases make them look.... ... . "seperate" ? and whats the point of paint matching them to make them look like they arent supposed to be there. ya know? if that makes sense.

@5litrarag936906: I may try your method with Duplicolor. But it looks the same the textured thing. My goal is to get rid of that. Maybe I'll just sand it down and shoot it with that Duplicolor.

@ Chris: I think the base should be black too, but you did say you have odd taste soooo if you like it then you like it.

See, I think on white it looks like sex when you paint it to match, but then on silver. Everytime I see a non-silver car with colored mirrors, I just think oh that is soooo hot. I still can't feel it. Does anyone have pics of a silver car with silver mirrors?

right now i have stock crap on there. these are going on one day, but im more motivated to get my car tuned than to get my mirrors paint matched. lol.

the point is to show off that you were willing to pay $3-500 to look behind you.

These two lines sum up my feeling about the whole sequential tail light thing. I have other things to worry about as well as spend money on than impressing whoever is behind me at a stop light.

Yeah the texture is still there...the trim paint flattens out so much that it doesn't take away the texture. But I wasn't trying to remove it either. I think with an hour or so with some different sandpapers you could remove it by hand if it really bothers you. It wasn't a problem to me because I was after the OEM look. But that trim paint is the business IMO.

knock down the grain of the mirror as much as you can with 320 grit and a sanding sponge. After that wipe it off and hit it with a good thick coat of high-build-primer. Sand that and re-apply as necessary and now you can paint it as glossy as you want it to be.

Yea the look of the imports never looked right to me and the price certainly never looked right.

Because... I guess that's how i feel it should look to be done "right." Like 03/04 Cobras for example, just the folding part is body color, same with my Lexus for that matter. If it's all body color it looks like someone went crazy with the paint. My bro's Acura is all body color and I guess it looks okay, but I think it would look better with a black base. Like someone else said it goes with the idea that it's a folding mirror.

I wondered if that was a misprint. I thought metal died in the 80's.

update:

was bringing the mirror downstairs to take a pic and i dropped the motha-fucka.

it is indeed NOT metal... and it is indeed ALL OVER the place.... LOL! no big loss, as i could only find one of them.

long story short, its in 1,000,00 peices (okay, 7 or 8) and therefore, i have determined its not metal.

I know what Chris is talking about but the '94's weren't metal. The export ones def are though, Matt had a set for sale in the Classifieds.

I guess it's hard to tell but they basically have zero texture compared to the newer ones.
