The parking brake light in my '95 doesn't seem to want to turn off lately. I'm guessing the switch is somehow at fault. Anyone ever encounter this? Is there an easy fix or do I need to pull the console and play with the switch?

Thanks.

Paul I know you know a lot about cars, but before you pull the console are you sure the brake fluid level is full? Mine would not go off, put a little bit of brake fluid in the reservoir and have not had the light stay on for a year.

I was going to say fluid as well, but it is also possible that your E brake cable is out of adjustment, you my need to tighten it i had that problem and i just adjusted it accordingly and it went away

Thanks guys, I'll check the fluid first. I pretty much never open the hood on the black car unless it's to add the oil that the car regularly burns. :hammer: I've promised myself that I would avoid working on it as much as possible. :)

That'd be cool if it was just fluid. That's an easy fix. I'm sure my brakes could probably use bleeding so I may do that as well.

i had forget low fluid can also cause the brake light to come on. as your brakes wear the piston extends and that causes the fliud level to go down. so for me when i notice the fluid being low it's prob due to the fact that the brake pads are worn too

Happened to me the beginning of the summer. I just topped it off and it was all good.
