Parking Brake

When I got my 1997 GT I replaced the parking brake cable, specifically the one from the brake to the bracket in the middle of the car. However, there is no tension when I pull on the brake while I am moving. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, but the car is used for drifting. I've been clutch kicking to initiate the drift, but I'm looking to use the parking brake for manouvers with more speed.

Alldata has no information on how to tighten the e-brake, and looking down the car there appears to be no way either. Is there a function that I am missing that I can use to tighten the emergency brake? If not, is there something I can buy or fabricate that will give me an adjustable cable?

You can probably talk to someone over at www.drift50.com. They have a drift setup fox, and I'm sure they have found a solution for hand brake.

You have to take out the self adjuster of the handle mechanism. Also ford Had a recal part that stops the self adjuster from working if your car does not have it. My hand brake wouldn't work until I did that.

Actually I bought an adjustable cable that uses a nut to tighten it. It's an FRP part.

You can do that too, but usually the self adjuster will still prevent that from tightening enough to make the brake work.
