People who has experience with bad steering racks....

Did you feel a difference in the steering wheel while driving before and after replacing your power steering rack?? While it was bad, how did the car drive and could you tell it was bad before looking at it? I ask because i know mine is leaking from the boat and i have a new one waiting to get it installed on saturday but before it went back i have had some unknown front end problems where the car would be all over the road and i THINK i feel it more in the wheel now since the rack is bad.. Don't know if I actually feel it or just THINK I do..... :icon_salut:

I have play in my rack currently. I've checked steering column and steering rod, and the play is coming directly from the rack. The downside that the car does not respond to the steering wheel imput as fast as I would like it. I've had a rebuilt rack sitting in the garage for like 3 month already, I need to get up off my ass and get it in there, before school starts.

my power streering pump is whining. and my rack is leaking.. lol i have both new to replace but i havent yet..

Never had a bad rack, but I have had a bad column. Don't ask me how a column goes bad, but I had some serious play in the column when I bought my Cobra. Replaced it and now a problem since.

My rack was bad on the GT when I picked it up. Gushed fluid in it if you put any in the system in about 10 minutes. So i'd fill it up real quick, take it down the street and come back. Definately major improvement over when it was leaking like hell. I threw on a reman from Pepboys. Car drives great now.

yea mine now you can drive it.. and when at slow speeeds it is really hard 2 turn.. im gonna replace pump and rack.. with reman.

I had a major leak on the pass side seal of my r&p. I replaced it with a refurbished on from O'Reillys. Had no changes in it @ all. No changes in feel & handling, I mean.
