Just got through with mine on my 96 I used windsor heads off a 99 but thats just what I got my hands on. I had to get the bolts for the top 4 timing chain cover bolts because the threads in the windsor heads are fatter so I would try to find romeo heads off a 01-04. besides that there isn't alot of difference between the the 2 except the amount of bolts in the valve cover. Just be sure to do it right and get new timing chains, tensioners, and guides! Pm me with any questions

Just get any PI head, look for romeo (easiest by seeing cam cap style or vc bolt #) You can get ported or call up Nick @ Modular Head Shop, tell him I told you to call and he can get you a price for some with oe or a/m cams.

all you will need:

PI heads fully assembled w/cams (prefer Romeo, since all the parts just swap over)
FRPP Headswap kit (about $105-$115 from summit, jegs, LMR, etc). - this includes new bolts, exhaust gaskets, head gaskets, and dipstick tube
you dont need new chains or tensioners, but a lot of people recommend to change them. i had 130k miles when i did the swap, still using the stock chains/tensioners, have about 196k miles now.
get new chain guides (about $20 a piece froma autozone, about $10 bucks more from ford)
timing cover gaskets (all three) and the timing cover seal
valve cover gaskets (tho they are usually re-usable, the grommets are usually worn out and you need to buy the gaskets that come with the gommets to get them. have them look it up for a 96/97 crown victoria...for some reason the ones for our cars are the wrong ones wherever you look -- at least wherever i looked)

and thats about it i think. some RTV sealant, PI manifold, PI heater return tube (in the cylinder valley, below the intake manifold), and if possible get some shorty headers since now is the perfect time to do them to make them worth the while (when it comes to labor). you can get some used ones for cheap, i picked up my FRPP shorties used for $100shipped

oh, and you happen to get windsor heads, you will need, in addition to the above:

Windsor valve covers/gaskets
the upper 4 timing cover bolts from a windsor (as mentioned above, different size)

have a machine shop check for warpage in the heads and over-all condition. i recommend replacing the valve seals.

for a few bucks a piece and the fact the head are already out,its a judgement call, i didnt feel like ripping it apart again if i had guide issues.

Honestly, now-a-days you can get a PI motor for even less than a PI headswap costs.

And swapping a motor is even easier than doing a headswap.

Sorry for the typeos guys this damn computer is all kinds of messed up. i ment ive been reading up on the the 4v engine swap. But im also thinking that it would be fun doing the pi swap and building up my 2v. I read in one forum that the pi swap is that good with a supercharger do to 10:1 compression. Is the true? But there also alot more engine mods for the 4v. for about the same amount of money. So, i dont know which route to go with i needs some opinions and more info.

I dont know where you got yoru facts that ther are more modifications for a 4v motor then a 2v or that 4v and 2v are close in price for aftermarket parts, but you have been mislead.
