so i got it on there, istead of useing the lower coolant tube i used 5/8ths heater hose (3ft) and broke one of the intake bolts from over torquing it. my question is y is it smoking after warm up? its not terrible but its smoking regardless, the smoke is white colored and doesnt start right away. any ideas? car runs strong regardless, only got on it 2 times on my drive around the block, no leaking coolant or anything, but it pulled hard enough to spin the bfgs DRs all the way through second ;).

when i first bought my car it smoked, because the coolent crossover was cracked. I think that some pi intakes still come with the plastic crossover, and the extremely hot temps of the coolent can crack it and as the car warms up some coolent will drip onto the heads and burn. It wont happen at idle, but when i used to rev at high r's i would get a white smoke from under the hood. I didnt find out it was the crossover untill i noticed the coolent was low.

its a very slow leak and it took a good weak and a half to be noticable.

if thats the case, the replacement shoudl be free.

if you have the aluminum crossover, everything i just said in useless lol.

Also: do u have pi heads? caseu i hear you can put a pi intake on npi heads, and then have the heads ported for better horse power than than pi intake and pi heads together.

maybe you spilled some coolant on the headers or in the valley between the cylinders, that would cause the smoke.

for the bolt that snapped, which one is it? if its any of the ones that go around or near the coolant passages, it might cause a leak and thats where the smoke might be coming from as well.

what gaskets did you use, NPI or PI?

pi gaskets, and its the one right behind where the T-stat is, the car is smoking from the exhaust pipes, it might just be because its cold though...

i would get that bolt replaced ASAP. that bolt would cause the coolant passages not to seal properly (expecially under high pressure times) and that could be where its leaking onto the exhaust manifolds from (leaking from here and finding its way to the exhaust pipes)

or do you mean its smoking out of the tail pipes?

smoking out the exhaust pipes, there isnt any coolant leaking to be seen under the manifold, or elsewhere, but there is smoke coming out of the tailpipes, like i said it might just be cold, but the car runs damn good now...
