ok so the other day on my stock 96 i had to replace the intake and the parts store gave me one for the 01-04 pi.. It came with everything even the new bracket for the alternator... Now my question is do they performe better??? Cause for some reason it has alot more power to it.. And the only reason i changed it is that the thermo state housing was leaking a bit and cracked that all... Just curious what you guys thought or if it was just me lol...

You should be able to find a set of heads fairly inexpensive. Everything is much cheaper than it used to be. I didn't look into them cause i have been planning on supercharging for a long time, and I didn't want to raise compression.

Find some PI cams to complete the PI cycle....

so the pi intake and tb will bold up to our stock heads and add power? or is the power you get from the intake not worth the swap?

Are you sure it's the PI intake? The dorman replacement unit looks a little different then the OEM but is still a non-PI

Dorman= crap. Get a for racing one @ summit, i price matched to $184.99, free ship. The ones you buy @ kragen i believe are o-ringed in the intake itself, and that would be ok if you had PI heads, but if you are putting a PI intake on NPI heads, that might be hard to seal the water jackets. IMO, either way get a ford racing unit.

PI intake 1st runner goes to driver side (don't count crossover), NPI goes to passenger side. Make sure you have a PI.

ok after doing alot of research they stickered the boxes wrong it has the pi new updates with the aluminum cross over and came with a new alternator bracket.. So im guessing its a non one.. But like i said it never ran this good when i got it and the only reason i changed it was cause the plastic one cracked at the thermostate housing..

Unless you bought it from ford, Id bet money that its a dorman. I have one of those crap intakes sitting in my garage. When you sit a pi intake beside a non PI intake, the pi will stand taller.

If it really was a pi intake they gave you, you would have had to do somethiing about the coolant tube that is in the valley of the motor, the npi intake clears it no problem but the pi intake with hit it if you dont move it to the side like the pi tube. If you did not have to do this then youve got a npi intake, also if you didnt have to drill and tap for a 2nd temp sensor then its npi.

And this is all that really matters! If you are happy with the car then the swap was a good thing

Chris is right, you would have to install the PI coolant tube in the valley because the PI intake will not clear the NPI tube. also, put your intakes side by side upside down and look at the intake ports. the PI ports will be more round than the NPI and as one of the other guys said, the PI lower plenum is taller than the NPI, so it sits futher down in the valley. hope these PI/NPI factoids help
