Intake ports are different. Also aluminum cross overs will be one thing, however PI intake manifolds only have 1 temp sensor (oe) where as the NPI cars require 2 and thus having to be drilled and tapped for the PI manifold.

correcto ^. also the npi manifold has a plated gasket(prone to leak especially with aftermarket upper manifold elbow) like the manifold to head gaskets. the pi has the rubber gasket ring.

well here it is 99 to 2000 or 2001 they had a pi intake with a plastic cross over but..if you u buy an updated intake it will come with an aluminum cross over with both temp sensor holes already tapped..an the difference between pi an npi is that npi has kinda looks like a circle with a dogleg an the pi is more rectangular an also has a dog leg, What year is your car?

You can definitely tell the difference with the port shape. NPI intake/heads have an oval port where as the PI intake/heads have a more rectangular port. Also with PI intakes the have a deeper dome that sits in the middle of the valley so if you ever decide to do the PI intake swap with NPI heads you want to make sure that you have the coolant tube that runs down the center or you'll run into clearance issues when your laying the intake down on the heads. Also make sure you silicone the HELL out of the coolant ports on the heads when laying your intake down or you may run into coolant leaks as I did a couple times.

You can find a decent PI intake for around the $70-100 depending on your seller and the location.

Wrong, no PI manifold ever came tapped for two sensors, just the one on the pass side. the tap is very easy to do though.

Correct, you can get a non-pi metal crossover with 2 sensor holes that can be used on a PI intake but again not a single actual PI intake ever had 2 sensors
