same here, 245/45/17 up front, 275/40/17 in the back:

closer side view:

and rear view:

FYI:
sidewall height on a 245/45 tire: 110.25mm
sidewall height on a 275/40 tire: 110.00mm
not much difference at all. speedo, ABS, nor traction control will be affected.

its pretty much rim size that effects speedos..

for the most part yeah, but if you have a tire that differs a lot from the factory size, you will have issues as well. not major issues, maybe not enough to trip the ABS or anything, but they'll be there none the less.

not to be an ass, but that is an incorrect statement. speedometer calib. is affected by tire size on the rear,
rear end gear ratio, and in some cases transmission gear ratios.
for example: if your car came factory with 245/45/17... and you put 18s with 265/35/18, your speedometer would change
less than 1 mph, if any. i entered my old and new tire sizes. 245/45/17 (factory 17 inch) and my new 315/30/18 into an online
calculator and my speedometer only reads 2 mph. higher than actual speed.
On the subject of the initial thread request... certain series sidewall can differ because of the tread measurement. example:
a 245/40/17 is not going to have the same sidewall height as a 275/40/17. specifics would help, as far as what tire size you
are going to put on your car.

to help the OP, here's how you figure out your sidewall height:

245/45/17
(a)/(b)/(c), where a = 245, b = 45, and 17 = c

take (a) and multiply it by (.b)
(dont forget to add that little decimal before the value of (b))

(a) * (.b) = tire wall height
(245) * (.45) = tire wall height
110.25 = tire wall height, in millimeters (mm)

so long as the tire wall height is close to what your original wheels were, then you are ok. be advised this really only works if you have the same size rims (16", 17") as your factory rims. if you are upgrading rims as well, its slightly different math you have to do, which if you need me to ill explain in a little more detail.

thats what i said.. tire size does effect it but the difference is so minor that your not gonna notice. The rim size is the only thing that could change it. I went from split 5's on factory sizes to a new style 18" chrome bullets and my speedo was definately off. So yea it matters but how much? not a whole hell of alot.

My sig is 255/45 up front and 275/40 in the rear, if you do it right the profile will be the same. It's all a ratio. If you keep the same width tire you'll want the higher profile in the rear or it'll look really stupid.

i'm not worried about the speedo and i know how to size tires... the purpose of the thread was for me to see the size difference because i didnt want to order tires that would look funny IE the front having more sidewall then the rear.. but the pictures helped make my decision and im getting 275-40-17 on the back and 245-45-17 on the fronts.. thanks everyone for the info and pics

I hope your car is lowered already, because if its not you're gonna hate those 245/45s on that 9 inch wheel....

It is gonna look like ass. Believe me, I've done it.

I had 245/45s, then 255/40, then I got tired of the BS and went 275/40 all around on 9 inch wheels. perfection.
