Plastic clips on A/c pipe?

What are these round white clips with little teeth on them just hanging on my ac pipe. Where are they suppose to go?

are these clips suppose to be between the big black clip and the ac line. Does anyone else have these hanging on there ac pipe thats my question, are they suppose to be there or not.

those are supposed to fit into the attachement joint. they are there to keep dirt and debris from getting into the joint, making it harder to un-do them.

they never fit, they never work, ive seen brand new cars with 4 miles on the odometer with those things hanging out like that.... they are a complete waste and i dont know why they still use them.

so how do those get out like that. did someone physically remove those clips or they can pop out on thier own?

they pop out on their own. you can put them back where they belong, but they'll just pop out again.
