I don't know why it does this. The first time about a year and a half ago it stopped working it fixed itself within a day. The next time....about six months ago it stopped working for about two and a half months and then magically it started working again. I know this must mean that somewhere something is loose but what? I can't even begin to guess where to look. All I know is that the speed sensor and the speedo gear are fine. Could it possible be the speed calibrator that I had installed along with my 4.11 gears two years ago? I just want it fixed cause getting a ticket for a malfuncitioning speedo sucks. Please help.

check all the connections to the speed calibrator! Make sure its getting power!

Ya if the Speedo Cal is getting power, b/c thats what it sounds like.

If you used the blue Scotch-Lok that was included in the SpeedCal kit to tap into a 12V power source (e.g.--cigarette lighter wire) for the SpeedCal, I would check that Scotch-Lok connection first. It can be tricky to get a good connection using a Scotch-Lok (that's my experience anyway). You might want to make an old-fashioned twisted wire soldered joint to attach a short piece of wire to the power wire and then either solder (preferred) or use a crimp connector to connect this new lead to the SpeedCal power wire. Use plenty of electrical tape and/or heat shrink to protect the new joints, too. Lastly, check the power (source) wire because it may be loose, too, giving an unsteady power supply. Of course, if you tapped into the power source wire for a bunch of other things, it may not have the capacity to keep everything going.
