I sent mine to Mirror Finish Polishing to have it polished, they did my D1SC head unit too.

Couldn't find any polishing places around me that had good reputations, maybe there are some near you. I have done some polishing in the past and will never do it again, I'll gladly pay someone else to do it lol.

I have a new(and bigger) alt to go on shortly(by pheonix gold of course). Big mamma-jamma with an offboard balmar voltage regulator, but anyway I have not put it on yet because I am going to paint it. I talked to a local alt shop and they said they will take it apart, replace the bearings while putting it back together after I paint it for I think $50. You could polish it yourself or call to ask if they have one, any alt shop should have some extra cases laying around and if polished one came in you know they will hold onto it.

Took about a month for the blower, maybe 2-3 weeks for the alt? Can't remember exactly how long. It's a small company so they get busy sometimes.

And I'm not saying you can't buy a polished alternator, they might be out there for sale somewhere but I just figured since my car was off the road for a few months I'd send the one I already had out for polishing.

Tony your style alternator comes apart, you can buy a junked one, send it away to be polished and then swap your innards when it comes back, no downtime. Or you can just take yours apart and paint it a nice color or something, joekd has done that I think.

I went the opposite route. I wanted my alt to dissapear, not stand out more so I painted it a dark grey

Let us know how it turns out, if they do a good job they're a lot closer than Missouri (where Mirror Finish is located), so shipping will be a lot cheaper for me in the future.

Tony i had a polished alternator before i had to buy a replacement one when i was in Spokane for a car show.

I polished mine the same way i polished the valve covers. No cost and took just took an afternoon.
