You can find good deals on 6.0Ls if you're willing to drop some cash and do some work from the get go. ARP studs, new headgaskets, EGR delete, and a new oil cooler topped off with a very through coolant flush and you'll hbe a strong ass reliable truck. I did a shit ton of research on them because I came close to having one and a stock 6.0L feels a lot like a slightly modded 7.3l. My 7.3l had a bully dog tuner, 4" turbo back exhaust, boost fooler, and 33's and I could get around 18mpg with it set to the "extreme" setting on the highway so long as I didn't smoke out the road.
