hi guys, I MIGHT have found a mustang. well I found one, of course, I MIGHT get it
Anyway, its a 96 3.8 (not my first choice), 5 speed, cloth interior with manual windows (again, not my first choice)
I know it runs but I haven't had the chance to drive it yet. Looked pretty clean on the inside, the only damage in there was a broken ash tray cover, and the bezel on the drivers door where the power window switches are on the ones with power windows, is loose.
Couldn't find any rust on the body, underneath had some very minor surface rust in various places. Didn't seem to have anything leaking up underneath. It has 161,000 on it. The passenger side is straight minus a few dings in the door, and a busted front signal. The driver side has some body damage, front signal and fender ( I could PROBABLY fix the fender), the door is ok, but there is a small dent in the quarter.
So.... there arent a lot of them for sale around here, so I figured I would ask what you guys thought of this one. They want 2000 for it and said they won't come down any, that if it doesn't sell in the next couple weeks, it its going to auction.

I wouldn't pay 2 grand for it...i feel like if you did a little searching you could find another v-6 in better shape for less. That car blue books for 1,800 in good condition, so I would look around a little more.

I wouldn't buy that.

Listen, my theory is if you really want a car, get out there and find it. Don't wait for it to pop up on the side of the road with a for sale sign. No point in settling for something you don't really want, either. There are other Mustang forums, as well as places like Craigslist and eBay that even if you can't find a car you're into, maybe they can help you figure out market prices near your location.

Good luck.

oh trust me, I've been searching, thats how I found those two. I hate being in the middle of nowhere. It seems like unless I want to drive a couple hours and pay 4 grand, I'm crap out of luck.
as another example, a half hour from here is a 99 v6 with a pretty bad interior, 180,000 miles on it, and they say it has mechanical "issues" that need to be fixed. they want 4000 for that one

i sold my 95 v6 vert for 3k, but it was mint.

however, my brother sold his 98 v6 for 900 with a rebuilt motor... just to get out of it, and get into another car that he wanted. whats good for you is, winter is coming up, "sports cars" dont sell for as much as they would in the summer, when they are actualy cool, and somewhat drivable.

another scenario to concider is this: i just bought a somewhat modified 98 gt convertible for only 1400 bucks, the guy saided it needed a motor, however it only needed a pcv valve and a a/c compressor, ive been daily driving it since, and letting my avalanche and 00 gt sit at home.

as for the new edge car you looked at, of corse its gonna be more, its a newer car, and i will tell you that mileage means nothing, id much rather have a well maintained high mileage car then a poorly maintained low mileage car...
imo, mileage is irrelevent.

also, if they take the car you posted to an auction, they will not get any more then a grand for it.

thanks ben,
I totlally agree on a well maintained high mileage vehcile vs a poorly maintained low mileage. I mentioned the mileage on these ones, because they show their mileage.
I wish I could get a mint 95 vert for 3000. around here, you are lucky to find one for 4000 that doesn't need some soret of work. I need to move, LOL

I'd pass on that for 2k, but I gave 500 for my 96 V6, lol.

I bet if you put 15 cash in their hand they'll sell it, they wont get s*** at the auction for it.

thats why you put the cash in their hands. big difference seeing the cash. If they think they're gonna get more than that at the auction they're stupid and not worth dealing with, lol.

I've always said that you can feel the right car. As soon as I saw the Cobra it felt right. I didn't feel good about any of the other cars I looked at. If you didn't get that feeling, keep moving IMO.
