The function or non-function don't mean shit. I wouldn't make it functional, for what? So you can tell people at the car show it's functional?

I'd do a Mach 1 style shaker, looks good and it's engineered to work.

Chalk it up to:
fake side scoops
fake brake cooling duct holes
fake rear diffuser looking thing

It just seemed like a cool idea. You know, one of the little things where you'd have to know the car to know it's not a stock feature.

To me the '01 Bullitt had it right and that's the look I'd want- but without the hood scoop. That was the reason I started this thread, because I actually prefer the V6 hood to the fake plastic abomination that blocks my view.

Sharp ride. Too bad he had to unload it. That pic shows what I mean though, so much cleaner without the scoop. His is either a '99 or '00, no scoop those years except the 35th anniversary edition. The chrome starfish wheels are pretty damn rare.

I have a 2000 gt and i think the the fact that it dosent have the hood scoop and flarred side scoops makes it look incredibly plain... I may buy the pre painted american muscle hood scoop and side scoops. Dont remove the scoop, if youre going to do anything buy a cowl hood or termi.

Believe it or not the Sn95 hood ARE functional-ish. They aren't fake vents they actually do bring in air, maybe not much but they are functional. A little water will not hurt if you make your hood functional because most likely will evaporate the moment it hits your motor.

All that plastic stuff up top doesn't get as hot as you'd think... plus we 99-04 guys have to worry about the junk coil on plug ignition... look at the coil funny and it will short out. My reading turned up guys having problems with water messing things up.

If anything they'd remove heat by letting it out. But I don't think a couple of quarter size holes do anything.

If the temrminator style hoods have the holes cut out, those are true heat extractor hoods. It lets the heat out after the radiator rather than soaking the motor/tranny. Hood scoops are really more for carburated cars, that's why they sit where they do. Unfortunately to make them work with EFI can get messy, specialy a DIY setup.

The 99/01 Cobra hood would look best for a 'stock' look. The 99-00 hood without the scoop looks even worse than the fake scoop. A small cowl hood wouldn't look right without a 99/01 Cobra front bumper as well. And then you're shelling out big bucks to get everything looking right. Maybe you'll get lucky and find a totalled rear-ended or t-boned V6 in your color?

My idea was to trade straight-across for the parts with a V6 owner who might be interested. Newlywed = no $ to make mods happen. I don't have hundreds of dollars lying around like some to just make this happen.

Decided just to keep the original hood seeing as I don't intend to keep the POS for another year, the only $ going into it will be maintenance.
