Problems or did I just get used to it?

1. Top of second and third (5500 rpm or so) it starts running out of breath. Seems unusual.

2. If i quick shift into Second, not getting rubber now, instead the powertrain jerks, momentary loss of power, then away we go. This is WITH T/C OFF...

3. Hearing a strange noise up thru the shifter, kind of like something is loose, even on light accel. Trans shifts fine otherwise.

Any ideas what problems I am dealing with? Car is stock except Pro 5.0 and catback.

you might be due.
some of your systems point to a failing clutch.
do you have a fire wall adjuster or adjustab;e cable?

I have had the idea too, I just hope not, cannot afford $7-800 to do it. Can't drop the trans by myself.

However it is not slipping...

Isn't there a way to check by trying to start in fourth, let the clutch out, if it stalls that's a good thing?

The strange sound could be the clutch.

Why can't you pull the tranny by yourself?
It could probably use a new clutch anyways and your tob is likely shot causing the sound?

You must have gotten a car built on the Friday before a long weekend, you have nothing but troubles.

Don't have the means to do it, even if I did I don't have the confidence, or a backup car. Pretty much ****ed. Agreed re Friday car, Goldmember never gave me this many problems and it was beat to **** before I nursed it back to health. This is fate spiting me for trading an 08 Camry with 35k on it.

ah, dropping the tranny isn't that bad. Just very uncomfortable to work on a lowered car with only jack stands. I've had to do it a few times in the last year, damn pos tob.

But yes it sucks when thats your only vehicle.

Plus I would have to deal with 10 year old exhaust hardware, last thing you want on a northeast car, it doesn't loosen so much as it snaps, same for driveshaft bolts. So I will just baby it for now.

Interestingly I solved what I thought was the trans rattle, turned out the bolts on the shifter handle worked loose. Problem solved.

Easy way to test if your clutch is slipping is to put the car in 5th or 6th gear going around 30 and hammer it. This puts a high load on your clutch and you will know pretty quickly whether its slipping or not.

The fifth gear test showed the clutch is still ok, rpm's did not climb at all when I punched it.

Thats good news. I currently have mine on the lift with the flywheel sitting in my saturn, and the crossmember, tranny, and everything else sitting in the garage floor. Waiting on for my clutch kit to be built. Should have it all back together Tuesday night hopefully.

Good luck. Hope everything goes smoothly. I'm just glad mine isn't totally F'd yet, if anything the fifth gear test proved it's still pretty tight. Maybe a new cable and adjuster would straighten things out a little on my end.

I don't even know anymore

My transmission is loud when you stand outside the car. Really loud. The flywheel/clutch is loud when you drive the car too. But recently I started hearing a noise while driving coming from the trans. It sounded like static. I drove for days wondering about it. Then I put my finger on the washers on the shifter handle. The bolts are loose and they're jingling. Sometimes it's the stupidest things...

Got that right, sometimes we assume the worst when the solution is really the easiest. I'll be glad to see this car go, regardless.
