I am going to be picking up a set of 03/04 cobra wheels for my 98 GT. I know that these wheels are 17x9. I currently have 275/40ZR-17 all around. I wanna know if I should run a smaller set on the front? I'm asking b/c I have 17x8 right now and will it cause the fronts to rub on turns? If that would be the case, I could run 245-45's right? Just wanna get some idea from everyone about my issue.

Thanks

Anthony

If they rub, it'll probably be the wheel, not the tire. I know 03/04's have different control arms than the other car's, but a 1/2" spacer would fix the rub.

yes you can run 245/45 on front and 275/40 on back, i got that combo and works well, just keep the fronts well inflated cuz if they go less than 25 psi your side wall will start to touch the road.

245s are a bit small on 9's.. 255s give you a good side wall.. but you can run em

you SHOULD NOT run anything less than a 275 on a 9 inch wheel....it just looks weird.

Mind fit fine

Ok I see alot of different opinions from everyone. LOL If I were to run a 255 tire, what should the height be? I'm not good with tire size combinations. Thanks everyone for the input.

I got 275/40s all around, thats what the wheels came with. You should also look into getting wheels spacers for the rear, they make a world ofdirrerence........

If I get wheel spacers for the rear, wont they stick out? The wheels im getting are 17x9 so wont the rear wheels be flush with the wheel wells?

Not by a longshot.
I'm running a 10" wheel with 285's and I'm not flush.

I run 275/40's all around, it will rub if you turn the wheel all the way at low speed. It isn't anything detrimental though. As mentioned above the rears wont be flush..look at my avatar thats the 17x9 with a 275/40 without a spacer. I will order some soon just gotta wait until I have the funds to spare.

Ok cool. What I wanna do is run a smaller tire in the front so it doesnt rub. I was thinking of something along the lines os 255/40's perhaps. How does eveyone feel about that? Sorry for being a pain about all of this. I just wanna be clear about what to do. Thanks again everyone.

I had 255's rub in front, it was the wheel rubbing, not the tire. I could have ran anything frpm a 235 to 275 up there, and the wheel still would have rubbed at full lock. Ironically it only did it turning left...
