Ok cool. What I wanna do is run a smaller tire in the front so it doesnt rub. I was thinking of something along the lines os 255/40's perhaps. How does eveyone feel about that? Sorry for being a pain about all of this. I just wanna be clear about what to do. Thanks again everyone.

I have 255/40's on my 95 Cobra R's and they are 17X9 and they don't rub... as to my knowledge. But ironicly my front wheels aren't flush with the fender... they stick out a little and the back ones are way in.... and they are all 17X9's with 255's on them...

On the flip, let me ask a question if you don't mind... if the "wheels" rub, won't that tear off my little balancer things the tire place puts on the inside to keep it balanced???? i don't do stick on ones because they never stuck for too long lol.

If I get wheel spacers for the rear, wont they stick out? The wheels im getting are 17x9 so wont the rear wheels be flush with the wheel wells?

Not by a longshot.
I'm running a 10" wheel with 285's and I'm not flush.

The offset may be different. He might be able to run a different wheel with 10inch and 285 and be perfect. Just saying.

I have 03 cobras and I have 255s on the front. They look perfect. They dont look strecthed like others might say. The tire is a 255/40 and its a BFG Gforce Sport. Any smaller would look funny but they run fine and they look like they fit perfect.

i have a 98 gt and i run 255/40's all around, no rubs at all 17x8 rims

my friend has a 94 gt with 03 bullit rims and he has 255/40's up front and 275/40's in back with no rubbing issues his are also 17x9

I would go with his combo 255/40's in front and 275/40's in rear. and get bridgestone.

If they rub, it'll probably be the wheel, not the tire. I know 03/04's have different control arms than the other car's, but a 1/2" spacer would fix the rub.
Yep my rims rub on my control arms not the tire, I had 255 up front w/ no prob.

Well just a little update for everyone. I bought brand new 03/04 cobra wheels from 50 resto and new tires as well. I put on the fronts and notice the fronts stick out alittle more then the other wheels did. I know is b/c the wheels are 17x9. Is there a way to some how not make the wheels not stick out as much. Like for example, what if I bought 03/04 cobra spindles or something? Im sure they are the same but I was just wondering. Other then that I love them. Ill snap some pictures this week when I have the entire set on the car.

So yes they do stick out a little in the front compared to the stockers and along with the rears still being pinched in, although less so as they are wider, it gives the appearance that the front sticks out even more. I put back on my rear wheel adapters, which are a little big in 1.25" size, but IMO, it gives the illusion that they match up and all is OK.

****edit
Here are the 1.25s.... a little smaller would work better though, but it's what I have.

Why don't you like the 1.25's ? it looks pimp ! Seriously though is there a down side to going 1/4 inch more?

Sorry for the confusion. The pic above is with 03 Cobra rims in 17x9 size, posted so you can see how it looks with them on and how it helps the front out by being flush in the rear. I originally bought them for my stock split spoke 17x8" rims to bring them flush with the rear fender and they work with the Cobras, just don't have to be that wide for the Cobras IMO.
