I want to run a off road prochamber with mac exhaust and longtubes. My question is how loud are the o/r's at idle (any of them). My neighbor is a cop with 2 toddler age kids. so if i can find one with a quietish idle I can avoid pissing him off. i leave for work at 330am mon-fri. I started looking at the pypes o/r h till i heard it in person and it shook the windows. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is your car stock? If so dont worry... it wont shake any windows unless your motor is built with your exhaust dumped towards the ground.

The only thing you need to worry about is the initial start up noise. Point your cars bum end away from your neighbors house.

O/R pipes arent really loud till you start driving in the mid range RPM's and all they really do is bring out the true tone of a mustang. Just drive out of your hood calm and gentle on the gas padel.

Lol, no problem. The car you heard it on and was pushing a lot more air through the exhaust than a stock car. Plus with it being cammed... thats another noise factor.

Youll be okay. Just get the o/r pipe and dont look back

I have o/r pipes on both of the mustangs, my x-pipe is pretty quiet at idle, initial startup is pretty loud. At 2000rpm it really brings out the loudness, which is 20mph in my car which happens to be the speedlimit in my town. But it's just loud enough to where sometimes it's hard to hear yourself think, lol. Now my dad has an o/r h-pipe and his is louder and a little more choppy sound imo.

ProChambers are said to be quit since the chamber is kinda like a 3rd muffler. The mac cat back is one of the loudest cat backs though. Long tubes also quit down the exhaust (from what I've heard) so you may be o.k. @3:30 in the morning with zero traffic or any other movement you are going to make noise no matter what you do. Getting away from a chambers muffler may help with noise. Have you considered a straight through muffler like Magnaflow's?

Wow, I never knew that long tubes and straight thru mufflers made your car quieter.... I always thought it would make it louder. I might have to try that out to get the cops around here to leave me alone. Does a cam or stroker also make it quieter?

Long tubes may make it quieter but straight through mufflers are usually louder than chambered mufflers. If you want to keep quit get a quiet muffler like the 50 series Flowmasters, or just keep a catted midpipe. Offroad midpipe with Mac catback is not a quiet combo.

My friend ran an offroad prochamber and mac catback on his '03 GT and it was anything but quiet, but on the other hand it wasn't obnoxious loud like SLP is either.

I have heard that long tubes are quieter, i have no proof though. The exhaust flow is smoother than with shorties so I guess it could stand to reason.

I have a mac o/r prochamber and a bassani bx catback. It sounds aggressive but not obnoxious. If you keep your foot out of it in your neighborhood you should be fine.

lol no I wasn't joking, everyone I have spoken with who has gone from shorties to LT noticed a quieter exhaust. Same goes for the prochamber vs h pipe since it has a muffler like shell. Magnaflow cat back is quieter then the mac cat back all around. Like I said at 3:30 in the am you are going to make noise no matter what. But if you really want to get quit then open headers should do it. Good luck and please report back.

Idk about the Prochamber being quieter cause it has an extra "muffler" cause mine was loud and droned like hell. I hope to notice a positive change going from the Prochamber to an H pipe.

I decided to run a catted prochamber. dont want to risk it.

bad idea. Dont touch your current exhaust as putting on a catted prochamber is waste of money/time.

After day 1 itll be TOO QUIET and youll be pulling it off for an o/r h / o/r x asap.

if you must, then put a catted X or H on.

Trust me. I been through this many times.......... :crybaby2:

A few of the 94/95 guys on stangnet have all said it quieted it down going from an H to Prochamber. Not one of them mentioned the prochamber causing drone though. Hope not.
