So I got a CEL and scanned it and came up with code 116 for ECT sensor out of range and 332 for EGR valve not opening, my question is, I took a look in my Hayne's repair manual and it says a faulty ECT could cause an EGR to not operate properly so I believe these two codes are tied together somehow. Previously a shop had scanned codes for me and told me my ECT had to be replaced and I did and the CEL still comes on, even after clearing it. No idling problems and I passed emissions testing with the CEL on.

Thoughts? I'm thinking of taking the EGR off and cleaning it and seeing if that does anything.

I would replace the EGR valve if funds allow, I doubt you'll be able to clean out all the carbon buildup that has gathered over the years. You swapped the sensor that's on the passenger side of the lower intake not the one on the driver's side right? I ask because I thought I had replaced the right sensor but it turned out I had only swapped the temp gauge sender. Thought I'd ask

Yes the one on the passenger side of the lower intake, but I still get the ECT code, possibly the wiring?
