I have noticed that my stock tach kind of skips while accelerating??...it starts a little above 3000RPM & really jumps to 4000 RPMS! I know that my engine isn't revving THAT fast! I am wondering what might be the cause? How accurate are the stock tachs? I don't think my clutch is slipping as it is pulling nice & steady....I appreciate all the ideas...thanks.

My wifes Monte Carlo does that, just not that bad. I have no idea what causes it though. :dunno:

I had that problem with my stock speedo, turned out the needle was getting stuck on the plastic face that shows the numbers. The plastic was warped from the heater i think. I ended up getting a race panel and all new aftermarket gauges to remedy it. If it's not that it could be several other things. but check that, its pretty easy to get to as long as you can get your headlight knob off easily and you have star head screw drivers, usually comes with screw driver sets. Just be care ful with the needles. Good Luck

my tach will do the same, i took mine apart and cleaned it, but it still happens. i will eventually just put a monster tach in there, i just dont like the idea of mounting something on my dash, i like a clean look.

I would also do a full tune up ....cap,rotor,plugs ,wires,etc.....

It helped mine stop, when my 95 was doing the same thing...good luck

p.s. 94kingcobra...where did you buy your dash cluster from? Was it from florida 5.0,or did you do it yourself? It looks nice....

Thanks I did it all myself, and it was a b!@tch. Lots of wiring and puting all new induvidual senders in. The one thing that pisses me off now is the fact that autometer came out with all new gauges with awesome lighting capabilities at night. I bought Like 12 LEDs for the gauges and they are still not as bright as I would like them to be.
You can get the race panel from autometer, but I would just look up the item number and search for it on ebay. I also laminated it with Carbon fiber for a custom look. It came out looking pretty good, all need to do now is take it all out and get it clear coated. But ya, it was a cool little project. Kinda Expensive, but I think it was all worth it. :thumb:

You know I think that is a good idea... I really have no idea on how many miles since it was tuned up...I do have good Steeda 9mm wires on it so I think they are good, but I do that last if a tune doesn't help...
