I just bought a used pair of 94-95 tails that I want to tint and then get painted. The tails are currently red but I need them to be black. So I want to know how I can get them ready for the body shop. I want to prime them myself so the body shop can just paint them. I've never done body work so im new to the sanding and painting thing. What grits of sandpaper should I use? Is there any good spray can primer? Thanks

Just do it yourself. Epecially if your going to go with flat black. Painting is easy if you just take your time. 320grit, clean off with prep spray, wipe down with tack cloth, Paint. If the paint has imperfections then wet sand with 1000-2000, add more coats if need, and then clear.

Do you think I could get the tails to match my factory paint with a spray can?

If you get the correct Duplicolor paint then it will be pretty close or you can go to a body shop and alot of the times they can put the correct paint code in a rattle can for you. Before you tint the tails make sure you wet sand them so try and get the oxydation off of the lens so it turns out good. Then tint and wet sand again.

I had a can of color match spray made up at a local paint supply shop, and it matched perfect to my body, it seemed to work alot better on the tails then the fender lol.
