Im not a body, i can do a lot of body work, but im not a body guy..........which is why i need help. SInce i cant find a rear bumper that i like for my 95 that doesnt have exhaust cutouts im thinking im going to have to buy one i do like and just mold in or patch over the cutouts.

Question is what material and process would be the best???

Now i know you can fiberglass it, which i have a lot of experience with, but id like to know if there is a better method when working with a urathane piece and what is going to give best finish and best reliability.

Exhaust cut outs most sn 95's 94-98 don't have cut outs for tail pipes. Unless it's like saleen and stuff or some Asia body kit

im not trying to use a factory bumper. i have side exhaust and im ordering the cervini's cobra'r front bumper, both of which sit much lower than the factory stuff. the rear bumper doesnt go very low and would look silly up high while everything else is down low. thats why i have to find a bumper that looks decent and sits lower and doesnt have cutouts, otherwise ill have to mod the cutouts to make them disapear. im thinking about cervinis stalker bumper as it is the smoothest and least ricer, and its cutouts would be the easiest to cover.

so again needing info on modifying urathane.

I would glass it. I glassed mine where there was a large hole. Came out fine. Now that I work in a boat factory and I do it a lot more, I could make it look much better. I just put my school parking sticker over it because I didn't feel like blocking and bondoing more etc.

i used to make custom fiberglass enclosures all the time when i had my shop. im still just not sure on if it would be the best mthod to go with on urathane. thats why i was hoping there was anyone on here who does custom body work like that on the regular to chime in and toss up some info.

I just dont want to buy a $500 bumper then mess it up.

When i filled the letters on my bumper, my paint guy used a flexible body filler because our bumpers flex, there just isnt much holding them in place. I wish i could direct you to a brand name or something but i just dont remember. Ask a few body shop guys what they would use because fiberglass will just crack, probably even during installation.

when i repair bumpers with holes in them i plastic weld them then for extra strength i put that tape used on sheet rock the one with the holes then put 3m 04247 over it(on the backside of bumper) after that i smooth out the plastic weld. then put flexible putty over it and work it like body filler. and don't put final glaze over it, it will crack. hope that helps

i know if u mix body filler with fiberglass filler it makes the body filler super strong and it spreads smooth like body filler. even with the fiberglass strands in there. i'm not sure what would happen it u mix it with 04247 or flexible filler. tell me what happens if u try
