Looks good to me.
I thought there would be a skinny filament or something. Is the next step to check the fan motor or CCRM? Thanks for to everyone for helping meLooks good to me.
man I hope you got some rest last night. If that checks out and is fine, where do I go next? Feeling kinda lost right nowIt's the middle part that will disappear when the circuit is overdrawn on power. So I say it's fine. The only way to be sure is to put a multimeter on it with the continuity or diode checker function and touch either MM lead to either of the fuse blades together at the same time. No beep means it's a blown fuse.
for sure, we'll get there one dayYou gotta get an OBD scanner on the car to initiate a fan test because removing and taking apart a CCRM is probably above you right now.
great! will do today hopefully. If the fans can't be forced on, it's the motor? if on, CCRM?yes we just want to make sure both the low and high speed portion of the fan work. It is controlled by the ccrm and they are known to go bad.
well thats good to hear. Would just replacing the temp sensor be an option too?If the scanner successfully commands the fan on, then you can safely drive the car in my opinion. About the only thing that could make it 100% bulletproof is unscrewing the temp sensor and dunking it in bubbling hot water and turning the key on (engine off) and seeing if the fan spins.
I was going to use my friends but he never got around to coming out. I'll have to look into getting my own. Still building my toolkit. I got the fan to run through wires straight to the fan from the battery, which got them spinning, both low and high speed. So now I should try replacing the coolant temperature sensor?Do you have a scanner that can datalog? There are some good apps out there if you buy an elm327 dongle.
Thanks for communicating that. ill swap the coolant sensor tomorrow, if it's not working, I'll order a replacement CCRM. Thank you very much for all your help. Hope you get some rest tonight man.I mean the sensor is pretty cheap so it's not a real loss even if the one already in the car is still good. Go ahead, I say.
But there's also a real possibility that the CCRM is defucktive. I say this because of what you said earlier, that the high speed fan doesn't come on with A/C activation.
I also looked into forscan, it seems amazing. Seems like a great place to start understanding and using diagnostic tools. Thanks for telling me about it!Get the dongle I suggested in my last post and download Forscan lite on your phone. It’s a great app and has tons of features.
As far as the issue, I’m thinking ccrm as well. You can try to de-solder and install a new relay but it’s easier to just buy a new one. Besides, you can hang onto the old one and fix it in the meantime as a spare.
