Realistically how hard/how much would it be to rebuild 99 GT

I just wanna do the basic rings/bearings deal. I haven't researched it much, Im actually driving home from work as I type, but it seems like everything modular related is outragous is price. I dont want hbeams or forged guts just stock.

Also. Ill do more research tomorrow night at work but if anyone reading knos, what the specs of a 99 GT is? and the engine specs, like what heads, piston material that stuff.

If it is an iron block your building, I personally would do it all myself. Iron blocks are more forgiving and arent as tempermental as a Teksid can be. Go out and buy the Sean Hyland book, read it, get some info on line and see if its something your going to want to do. You will have added expense in special tools that you may not have already, and there are bound to be a few things you will need help from others with ( ie degreeing cams) . If you feel confident in doing it yourself and have the time/space to take on this task (im doing mine in my kitchen) then you should be fine as long as you dont rush, read and ask questions.

Not to hijack the thread, but would you be able to get the special tools on loan from an auto parts store, or would you have to purchase them? I don't know anything about rebuilding modulars either.

You may be able to get a puller or something like that from a parts store but your best bet is to buy the tool. You dont need to go out and get the snap on man and spend 10k in specialty tools but you can find what you need on line from cam tools and crank shaft sockets ect.....

Yeah, I plan on doing it myself. I just mean the parts seem super expensive compared to other engines, but like I said, I haven't really done much research yet on the subject. Thanks for your help though.

What parts are you looking for? Most rebuild parts such as gaskets and bearings etc are avg cost.

I dont know yet. I dont even have the car yet, Im just dreamin and tryin to learn more.

But what I was thinking was just a basic stock rebuild. Try to reuse as many parts as possible, just have the rods and pistons cleaned up, clean up the crank, machine the block as little as possible, that stuff.
