The other day i looked at the rear brakes and they looked pretty back on the drivers side. So i went to oreillys got some rotors and pads. I painted the rotors so they didnt look like crap after the 1st rain storm. Well after spending 3 hours looking for my lugnut key and the rear caliper tool, i got the rotors off and touch up the calipers and the brackets. got it all back together that night. went for a spin to see how it goes. I get 15 blocks from home, and come to a stop at a light and i see smoke passing me. Im like fawk now what. I pull over and start looking and the passenger rear wheel well is pouring smoke out. I get pissed and im thinking well maybe it is just the paint burning off. Now i taped off the contact area so i didnt get paint on the pads. Well i pull the hand brake a few times to see if that would free it up. i drive another 8 blocks and come to a stop only to have more smoke than before coming out. I run home and tear into it. jack the car up both wheels seem to move ok a little bit of work to move them, but they spin. So pull the caliper off look at it to see what is happening. Well in that short time span the pads got cooked. literally a mile maybe 2 and the pads got cooked and i never got able 30 mph.
Well i rotated the piston back in again, and bolt everything back up. Pass side is free now, and the driver side now has that crap load of resistant on it.
Took it for a spin around the 5 blocks to stay closer. Come to find out now the driver side is now getting hot. I pulled the wheel off and pull the caliper off and play with the hand brake lever on the caliper and the piston didnt move. Im hoping its the driver side caliper but i might as well replace both rear calipers.
Any ideas as to what it could be. 1998 v6 auto no abs,
