it sounds like he's talking about the part that everyone paints black. not the lettering itself. just get a can of flat black spray paint from the hardware store, some masking tape and a bunch of old newspapers. it wont take you more than 10min to do it.

Yeah he is talking about the section of the bumper cover under the mustang lettering. Mine came black, i forget what years had it and didn't but flat black paint will take care of it.

+1 mine came with it as well
but after a while it cracked and the color underneath the black is orange and looks like poop
so painting it was a must haha

i'd either just paint it like everybody else said or try to find a local guy to measure it and make you one.

Oh, I call that part the valance. No idea if that is the right term, still do though. I wanted mine painted back to flat black. Josh thought the shiny would look better, so he did it that way. He did not know I wanted it flat for a reason. After seeing it, kinda like it! Here's the best pic I have of it:

For those inserts I 1st posted, switched to stainless steel inserts. Having them painted to black.

My 98' car didnt come painted and either did every other 98 Car.

I painted mine myself. Masked the line perfect and used Duplicolor bumper coating for that Flat black look....looks damn sexy

dude, with all the work youre doing to your car, you should have gotten a v6 rear bumper. just "MUSTANG" in the bumper looks sooo much cleaner than "MUSTANG GT". maybe its just me though.

Thanks! If I wanted a V6 bumper, I would have bought a V6. Even though I am adding a 96-98 Cobra hood & ABC Cobra front bumper, I still wanted to show it is still a GT! I wasn't sure how else to convey that.

I happen to really like the stock GT rear bumper, sorry.

Mine was factory painted flat black but I didn't like the way it looked with reflective letter inserts so I redid it with gloss black

Few minutes of masking, scuffing and spraying gave it a whole new look
