Guys I've come across a good deal on a complete rear with 4.10's. However its out of a Fox. Now if I switch to my 5 lug axels will the rear still mount up the same and work?
Thanks in advance,
Tim

Wouldn't it be a LOT easier to just swap the 4.10s into your car rather than swapping the entire rear, and all the brakes?

It takes me like 2 or 2.5 hours to swap the entire rear by myself.

To have the 4.10's installed is a little over my head, and it cost around $150-$200 :(
So if possible I'm just swapping the rear out

Okay since were not answering the rear question lol

If my carrrier for the ring is busted (thing with the spider gears in it) if i replace the carrier with another one, do i have to re-adjust the pinion depth and the shimming etc, etc

Not trying to be difficult just found one for nothing so I have to pick it up, swap axels and bolt it in...

i didnt mean to sound like a smart ass

the lenght is not the same, foxes is a lil shorter but still work,as Paul stated above its gonna take a lot of time maybe modifications to get everything on there.

and yes if you swap gears you have to set everything with in specs. such as back slash not hard if you have the tools and time.

No no no I meant I didnt mean to sound like an a-hole not you!
You were helpin me out! :)

So i guesss the mounting points for certain things are different...hmm ill have to check out what all is different.

You are probably right, it may just be easier to have the 4.10's reinstalled in my current rear.

tim=missin the gears :(

Well the mounting points aren't different as far as control arms, driveshaft, that sort of thing. The Sn95 axles are slightly longer than the foxes
because of the brake caliper clearnace.. The sn95 have a caliper bracket that extends out to hold the caliper, thus requiring more axle length.
If you wanted to swap everything over, you would need to swap axles, all the brake stuff (brackets, calipers, rotors etc..) not to mention the brake
lines, ABS mumbo jumbo.... I would just swap the carrier w/ gears if the rearend is a good enough deal, if not, just 31 spline swap, and call it good!

Cool cool!

However I am amazed at how difficult everyone makes swapping a rear sound! I did it by myself in the driveway in like 2 hours lol.

Anyways thanks for all the help guys! I really apreciate it :)

its not that doing the gears is hard its setting them up that gets people. You need a dial indicator and to correctly set the backlash, proper amount of shims, press..exc exc..

It's a direct swap.

The rear itself is the exact same length as the SN.

It's the axles that are different, and you'll be swapping those too anyway.

I say go for it!
