I have a '95 GT. I had my car on the lift the other day and I noticed I had play in both rear wheels when checked up and down, side-to-side there wasn't any at all. The play isn't incredible but it is about 1/4inch. I'm changing my rear gears and have already ordered a complete bearing/seal kit for the diff and axles..but just wondering if this is normal??

There's not supposed to be play in the axle bearings, but assuming that there's no metal shavings inside, then your
aforementioned bearing/seal kit should clear that up.

is the up and down play the axle shaft or the axle assembly(due to extremely worn bushings)?
