I have a question for you guys. The defrost on my rear window has never worked, It looks like the little "elements"? have cracks or gaps in them so my assumption has been that that is why it doesn't work. Of course its cold outside now so I need my defrost. Also the window tint on my back window sucks and is bubbling and generally looks crappy. Well I found a local person selling a professionally tinted new edge mustang rear window with working defrost that I am looking at purchasing for 125$ sometime this week.

How hard is it to uninstall my old glass and install a new rear window? Is this something best left to a professional/shop? Has anyone had any experience with this that could provide some insight? Thanks!

i dont think a window job is the end of the world..but i do this stuff for a living......my opinion hoenstly would just to pay someone to do it.....that way you dont have to worry about anything......if it leaks you tell them to fix it..if they scratch something you tell them to fix it.....and cost shouldnt be too bad considering youll already have the window

EDIT: basically - if you havent done a window before then dont make your first one be on your own vehicle.....just tag along with someone else when they do one so you can see whats involved and they can give you some pointers

I like doing all my own work, but you make a good point. Wonder how much professional installation might cost?

i usually charge $200 including the window so the installation should be like $100 or maybe under..depends on the shop......and i know i do everything myself too but when i did my first window i was sure glad to have my boss there giving me pointers..if he wasnt there my windshield woulda come out terrible

^Appreciate your insight man. Would hate to screw it up and have it leak or something. Guess I'll be making some calls to get estimates. Thanks

your chiltons or hayens manual will talk you through repairing those....... dont replace the window (200.00) until you try the chilton's fix ($4.99)

Mine doesn't work either. And I know I'm getting pwr to the window.
I assume a PO removed some old window tint and removed the lines with it.
I've never noticed anything about the defrost in the haynes manual but i'll sure look that one up for sure.

start simple and check your fuses or make sure it has power back at the window before you assume the problem is in the glass and throw $300 at it to save it. At the very least take a meter and see if there is power on it or you might finish up and have the same problem.
