OK I grenaded my 5.0 this weekend now I have a complete motor out of an 87 gt. I'm taking it down and machining the whole thing. I ran a e303 cam in the last motor I was thinking of running an x303 in the new motor. Would I have to run anything different? Ive been running the stock e7's as well. Would I have any valve clearance? And I would like to hunt down some gt40 head's if they would clear? Any suggestion?

An X303 will probably be very close with P2V clearance. I think your money for a cam would be better spent on a custom grind, but that's personal opinion. Regardless, with a cam that hot your heads will be holding you back in stock form. GT40s would be a decent upgrade and relatively cheap. Check out Thumper of Orange Park, they have a good reputation and decent prices for those on budget builds.

i think an X303 is too big for you....your overall performance will suffer.....but i'm guessing that your car is pretty much stock, but i don't know....

What rear gear are you running?

What transmission are you running?

If an automatic, what size stall converter?

I wouldn't spend the money for a custom ground cam unless the prices are comparable to a stocked shelf cam, reason being that if you're pretty much stock....i don't see much of a gain for the money.

I have bolt on's and I'm running my t5 with a spec stage 2 in front and 3.73 behind it. Anything comp makes that is compared to the e303?

That's good you've got a T5 with the 3.73s, that won't limit you on camshaft selection.

I went to Comps website and their descriptions are really vague, so you'll have to call them, which i'd recommend that you call a camshaft company and talk to them anyway. they'll be able to help you get the best bang for your buck when it comes to selection.
