with red, im pretty unbiased. both clear and smoked can look good on red.
i think you need a really shiny paint job to pull smoked off on red though, which you seem to have with that car.
one thing i would consider though, with a neutral color like red, headlights seem to fit well when matched with your wheels. on a red or green or yellow car, i would put clear headlights on them if the wheels were chrome or a lighter color. id put smoked on it, if the wheels were black, or some other darker color.
if your car was black or white, you could get away with clears or smoked regardless of what your car looks like. i mean obviously with a black car, and everything blacked out, id put smoked on, but clears wouldnt look bad.
what im tryin to say is, your headlights should compliment the rest of the car. dont let them stick out like a sore thumb because you went with something that doesnt flow with the rest of the car.... side tracking a bit, its why altezza tail lights look terrible on our cars. its because people try to put a gaudy color/shape tail light on a car that has no flow that matches them.
like i said, i think smoked will look good with your shiny paint, but if you do smoked, id highly suggest getting a chin spoiler to match the dark headlights, so theyre not the only thing on your car (especially in the front) that is dark.
