As you can see from the picture, the paint that the last owner sprayed on the steering wheel is coming off. I'd like to remove the rest of the tan paint from the air bag. Does anyone know a way to remove it? I peeled off the parts that were coming up but the rest is stuck on pretty good. I am getting a steering wheel from eBay, black, as this one is very nicked and worn, but I'm hoping to save the air bag so I don't have to replace it.

When we painted the doors on my old explorer we used aircraft paint stripper/degreaser. Worked perfectly. But it'll get your high really quick if you don't do it with any ventilation or wearing a mask. Don't do it in direct sunlight either or it will evaporate really quickly and be useless.

You can look online and see that there are quite a few people that did it this way and had no issues.

Don't use aircraft remover. It will melt the plastic.

Sent on the toilet from my SGH-T679

best bet is to sand it off. You will need to sand it anyway before you paint it so get to rubbin....
