does anybody know for sure if the two are interhangeable...almost if not all of the interior trim, seats and stuff can be used..I have called body shops and dealerships..no one can for sure tell me if the the carpet out of an 04' will work in a 97'. I called the dealership to price the 97' carpet and it is no longer avail. but they can get a kit in for $600...so I was thinking since if you order an aftermarket carpet kit it shows 94-04...if I order a carpet kit from the dealership for an 04' it is $311...but if it does not fit for any reason they will not take it back since it is a soft trim item...jus wanna make sure before I order it..Im almost positive it will fit..what yall think...I am takin out the grey and replacing with black since the whole interior is already black...has anyone put new model carpet in older car...thanks for any input..

thats the thing..it is considered soft trim..the dealership wont take it back..I would have to try and sell it...and that is a hassle....jus wanting to make sure..I thought everything is the same..but the dealership is second guessing the fitment..which really doesnt mean much..haha..

Should be fine, like stated 94-04 pretty much identical. The console design changed (cupholders) but that should have no impact on the carpet

i've heard plenty of lines before that I just shook my head at. It's not the job that makes the counterman stupid, its the man himself.

You know you can get brand new aftermarket carpet out of the Mustang rags for a 120 bux right? Also, right now they are running a special,$15 flat shipping fee for anything that goes by UPS ground.Just wasn't sure if you
checked into that or not. That being said, yes it will work, one of my 98's has a carpet in it from an 03 fits fine.I seem to remember
having a little extra material by the back seat somewhere but not noticeable once I got it back together.

the last time I bought an aftermarket kit...the carpet was cheap looking..and it was ACC brand..for my 2 dr. Tahoe...looked like that carpet you buy at wally world to cover your speaker box with...I dont mind spending the money..as long as it looks like factory...the grey carpet in is is pretty good..except under the seat area...coke stains..and the jute is all gummed up...I would rather have black carpet..the whole interior is black, except the carpet...thanks for all your help...I think Im gonna order the carpet tomorrow...

alrighty..the carpet came in yesterday...woohoo...laid it out to flatten...put is in the car and the fitment if pretty good..as you will see from the pics, where the rear bolts go into the floor..there is big squares..hopefull I can find some 04' seats and maybe that will fix that..is not..no biggie..no one will see it or sit back there...and the drive shaft hump between the console and rear seat has slack..evidently the 04 shaft hump is taller..again..no biggie..and it is black..well that is what I ordered..looks more like a dark grey...but still love it..better than what was in it...the carpet that was in it was ok..jus dirty..and didnt feel like cleaning..maybe someone locally will want it for a beer and a firm hand shake.haha..
