Request: T-5 to T-56 or TKO swap with pics and parts required

I know some of you have done this and was wondering if you have pics and parts list. Also what models and years came with the T-56, or the best way to get a used T-56 pr TKO so I can rebuild it?

t-56 came in 03-04 cobras, other than that, i cant help u out much, sorry

anyways, here is a guy with a t56 svtcobra95? i think has the t56.


are tkos not an option here?

A second overdrive gear would be nice, I am checking to see what it takes either way. I would like to find a used one to rebuild.

Oh the reason for the second od gear is that I do alot of highway driving and am thinking about 3.73's or 4.10's

Well, you'd need:

[x]T56
[x]Clutch
[x]Flywheel
[x]Shift Fork
[x]Pilot Bearing
[x]Rear Main Seal
[x]Shifter
[x]Bellhousing
[x]Shorter driveshaft
[x]Modified crossmember
[x]Trans bolts
[x]Bellhousing Bolts
[x]Flywheel Bolts
[x]Driveshaft Bolts
[x]Shifter Bolts

Did I miss anything?

It's like any other transmission, except the driveshaft and crossmember need to be modified.

T56s are neato, but I don't know if I could justify the cost to get one... no matter how awesome the .5 sixth gear is.

You don't need a special driveshaft or crossmember for a TKO. They're both heavy mofos, but the 6-speed is even heavier. It helps to have somebody a bit strong underneath the car when doing this. :)

just keep in mind unless you go Viper spec the 6th gear in a T56 is almost the same as your 5th gear in the T5.

And Viper spec means viper money. I'm pretty sure the viper t56 is rated at 650 torque and the TKO600 is 600 torque for about 1500 less. If your concerned about power capability along with highway driving.
