reverse is just revving

well today i just noticed a weird problem my tranny wont barley move in reverse it will a little but i have to hit the gas beyond normal i check the fluid and its perfect ive never had a tranny issue its works fine in drive and 1 and 2 even in over drive and yes its a auto im wondering if its just a sensor that is not working properly the tranny and motor has only 75000 miles and when i do put it in reverse i dont hear no clicking or tapping like metal to metal i feel like its just a sensor but any help guys i would appreciate it thanks, john. btw the fluid is clean too and leveled perfect...

AOD, AODE, A4R70W? Do you know which A/T you have? What year, which motor do you have? Could be a sensor but could be a front pump also.

aode auto 94 gt i never had any signs of it messing up either it just did it out of no where thats why im pissed and thinking its a loose linkage or the mlp sensor.

My AODE (or 4R70W) has lost reverse but all other gears work fine, could this be an electrical problem?

Unfortunately this would have to be a mechanical problem. There is nothing electrical about reverse gear in the AODE or 4R70W transmissions. You could have a bad Low/Reverse Band, or a bad Reverse clutch pack.

I don't know much about electronic A/T so I did a search to see what was out there. Sounds like you need to find a local A/T guy that is trustworthy. Ask around. I wouldn't just show up at a shop and take my chances. You might also want to think about a manual trans swap. I have gotten prices around $1100 for a used one with all of the extra stuff needed, 1500 with a rebuilt m/t and the sky is the limit after that. spooling2valve has a m/t for sale you might pm him. Keep me posted I learn something new everyday.

Could be the bands in the trans gone bad, mine did it in my 96 but was only forward gears and reverse still worked!

today i went under the car and checked the linkage and it seemed fine but ima try to ohm out the mlps sensor but i think im out of luck the weird thing is that at a cold start the car will reverse fine like i mean if i didnt touch the car for like 4 or 6 hours but when it warms up it barley works worse comes to worse its time for a 5 speed lol im going to my tranny guy right now and will see what he says ill keep yall posted thanks for the help guys

ok so my guy told me the tranns is bad the reverse clutch went bad its either i rebuild it or get a used aode i was wondering whats the best thing to do because im boosting my car so i need a good tranny i dont wanna do a manual tranns i want to stick with auto but again i dont want to spend more than a 1000 for somthing that can handle about 450 hp
