Hey guys, fairly new to the SN95FORUM's community.
I just bought a 3 1/2" Cobra R hood for my car except for it was sprayed over with some kind of liner. I need some advice on the removal of this. The texture is a lot like Rhino Liner for truck bed....Will bead blasting it be aggresive enough to have it removed? Any tips or info helps. Thanks.

lacquer thinner will take it off.....grab like 2 gallons of it.....keep dumping it on there and scrape with a putty knife.....obviously make sure the hood is off the car so youre not getting lacquer thinner on your paint

Do NOT use a methaleyne chloride based stripped on it. It will liquify the resin in the fiberglass, essentially melting your hood.

Basically, any heavy duty paint stripper contains that. Laquer thinner might not do the trick, but it's worth a shot. How tough is it? You might be stuck sanding it.

how bad is it? I would almost imagine that the liner would probably hold up to blasting just as well as the glass would, chemical as he said you run the risk of messing it all up. I would consider selling it myself and starting fresh I think...

Took an aggresive piece of sandpaper and went at it. It came off and I think there's primer underneath it.

Man, I hope you got it for free, cuz that's gonna be some elbow grease! Why would you rhino-line a hood? Sheesh.

I'd rino-liner an entire mustang if it was a budget-build race car.

Black: Sponsor stickers can contrast well.
Strong: Drop a wrench, eh.
Durable: No need to re-do it when it loses its luster.

street car? no. just no. lol.

glad the sandpaper is working for ya! I suggest getting a D.A. and going at it with the sandpaper! :-D

hopefully it was not put on to cover up any problems and only to make it a little more sturdy/solid.......I would just see if you can block-sand it flat and paint it...

Yea, but once you do it, you can't really go back without major time investment.

I rolled on flat black with my Fox #71. I did the whole car for less than $100. Touch ups were a cinch and it was durable. If I ever wanted to get a real paintjob I could easily sand/primer and paint.

If sanding is working, sand away. If you are used to running a DA you can get it done pretty quick.

And yes, I would call myself a fiberglass expert lol. Takes knowledge to pump out quality boats :)

I'm digging these forums, you guys are awesome. After I get it sanded down it needs some stripes and a fresh coat of Aztec gold and a little pearl
