You never really get to fully utilize more than 300 horse. Really at 200 I can't fully utilize it unless I'm at the drag strip. Otherwise I'm in traffic all the time. It would kill be to have like 600 horse and be stuck behind a million people, while the motor is drinking all my gas haha.

Mid 300's is reasonable, and seems to be light enough to be reliable and safe.

Wow! LOL at the OP. Anyway, there was a guy who lived down the street from me, thik his name was Dan Hagga or something. I remember it was green and all stock looking but with an invader front bumper lol but the thing was supercharged and had a feature in MM and FF I think. Thought he was one of the guys that started one of the leading V6 sites.

There was a Stock Looking v6 Mustang on my local CL not to long ago and It had a huge freaking turbo on it and said it was dyno'd at like 350 at the tires or somthing like that it was pretty sick and a hardcore sleeper.

Lots of BS in here lol

Theres no way in hell that car made anywhere near 250 hp...those mods probably gave him all of 10 hp combined at the fly.

People dont go the v6 route because well, they suck. The only way you will make any power is with boost or nitrous.

And g36, not sure why you say that...I can use my cars hp on the street....and I get no worse MPG than when my car made 180 rhwp. lol

Even the 4.6s suck at making power without boost or spray.

that's what I was getting at with my earlier comment. our cars are made to go (yours more than mine, I got small pockets haha) and being stuck just easing off the clutch a few feet at a time drives me nuts. plus I run rich as a mother sitting in traffic. WOT is perfect though :D

I remember Dan. He was a big part of V6power back in the day. MM/FF did a write up on one of the first V6 shoot outs that he was at.

I think people don't build them b/c they don't understand them. The V6 has features that I wish the old pushrod 5.0L had. Now that I know the V6, I won't ever waste money on a 5.0L again. They have a lot to unlock - and when you do, you can get big things out of them. In fact, I'll go out on a limb and say starting with a set $$ amount if you get a GT and mod it vs getting a similar year V6 and modding it - I could match if not beat the GT numbers for the cost.

How much power can a stock 3.8 bottom end hold?

And Idk if I agree with that last statement...lol

I mean, you throw 10 psi at a 3.8 and psi at the 4.6, whos gonna make more power? the 4.6 of course.

The stock bottom end has proven into the mid 400s.
Obviously 10 psi on both makes more on the V8. I didn't mean mod for mod, I meant dollar for dollar over all. IE: if you give two people $7000 grand. Person A buys a $7K new edge GT. Person B buys a $5500 new edge V6 and spends $1500 on the right mods, person B will have the higher hp car. Other than the rare odd ball cases, building power is cheaper than buying power... it's why we all got Mustangs instead of buying high dollar 'performance' cars off the lot. Somwhere (on another forum) we actually got into it to see where the limit was in the whole idea of buying a V6 vs buying a V8 to make power. Obviously at the end of the day in a Mustang, the V8 will make more extreme power. But up to a certain point (it was somewhere in the 600 hp range) building the V6 was still 'cost effective' - or as cost effective as you can be when talking 600 hp Mustangs. LOL

I have to agree.

The way my car is now I hang with my buddys s197 GT, he pulls away in first gear, other than that we don't get further apart.

That comparo is soooo skewed. I could buy a $500 fox body, then built a budget $6500 351 stroker and be faster. Anything can be made fast with the right amount of money.

As he just said above, that can be said with anything and your comparison is skewed.

Even the brand new 5.0 vs the 3.7. You can boost that 3.7 and beat up on 5.0s for less money than the 5.0 will cost to buy in the first place.

IMO, the 3.8s just sound like SHIT no matter what you do which is enough to force me to never want to mod one. lol

Im still not sure if I really agree with you...what can you buy with 1500 dollars to make a 3.8 beat a 4.6?

Nitrous doesnt count.

Cause from what ive seen, 3.8s make like no power NA and even ones with heads/cams/ etc etc cant even break into the 13s which stock 4.6s have been proven to do.

Like is there stock motor 3.8s that run 11s?

Ive probably spent a lot of money on my car dicking around over the years, but its essentially just a stock PI motor with a vortech blower and a stall converter.

I get compliments on how my car sounds all the time.

Rice, I believe he is talking about two things in the same body style. and maintaining the same wiring harness/computer.

some do sound good, but some sound like crap. I have heard v8's that I didn't like the sound of and v6's I didn't like.

All about how its set up.
