So pedestal mount rockers are effin expensive. I need some input on what I should do. Looks like conerting my p heads to stud is the way to go. What brand of rockers do you guys suggest. I'd like to keep the rockers at about 250$ as I will have to get studs and guide plates.

I was looking at the manufacturers websites. Harland sharps were like 260 for stud mount and 450-660 for pedastal mount. I went to summit and found some crane 1.7's and scorpions 1.7's for under 250. So I stand corrected.

Are most people under rating there arms to 1.7 because 1.72 should be slightly longer. The tfs1 uses 1.6 anyway right?

the TFS1 uses whatever you put it with, but the lift spec is for 1.6, would be more with 1.7. If you want an inexpensive pedestal mount look for some used Crane Cobra rockers.

I actually found some scorpions that are reasonably priced. I was looking in the wrong places. I shouldn't need to go stud mount with a combo like gt40p and tfs1

I would just stick with 1.6. Might loose a lil power down low with 1.7 you could do 1.6 on intake 1.7 on exhaust side. Doubt you wanna spend that tho.

Well I won't know ptv until I'm dropping the head on unfortunately. I'm taking the p heads to 1.9 and 1.6 valve size and I'm curious how close ptv is going to be with 1.6's. How much further in is the 1.7 going to plunge the valve?

Ther is a formula for that and I been told a lot of times even on this forum but it just wount stick. Not much tho are you scared to cut your pistons? Its ez hardest thing is getting the tool and time it takes.

Edit: so found the formula( lift/1.6x1.7} so take the lift devide by 1.6 if its what the cam spec use then times new ratio 1.7.

Not sure that they under rate them but ive allway thought most 1.7 are 1.72 not all of them tho.

I've seen the isky relief tool and it shouldnt be hard. My concerns are the unknown. Piston thickness how much balance change may occur. That sort of stuff. I'm trying to amass all the parts build the heads and be ready to put it together. Then take a few days off and put it all together so the more I know now and hammer out ahead of time the smoother things will roll. I don't want to get the heads on and go to measure ptv and find out I need to cut and be with out transportation waiting in my isky cutter.

correct, so say the TFS1 cam is .499 lift on the intake, since that's with 1.6 rockers you divide by 1.6 = .312 then multiply the new rocker size, in this case 1.7. so final lift would be .530

there are some cams like the Crane 2031 that list the specs with 1.7 rockers though, so just something to keep an eye out for.

So the isky tool is out of my price range ATM. Spending 100 per size is a bit steep when I have so much other stuff to get together. I have to shop around but I don't think I'll find them that much cheaper. I have to swing by my shop and see what my step dad has. He may have a way to do it already. Or I could always free hand it. Thanks for the calculations guys very handy I'm going to go crunch numbers now haha.

So with the 1.72 scorpions I'm looking at 536 intake and 548 exhaust. Should run pretty good. :)
