So its coming time for me to replace the pads on the front on my car. This will be the first brake job since i installed my cobra brakes.

Anyways, i installed slotted rotors when i installed the Cobra brakes with PBR Pads.

Do you guys think i need ti replace my rotors again with the new pads? The rotors barley even have a lip. Almost nothing. Think i should get new ones or just throw the new pads on?

BTW, I am using Porterfield R4-S Pads as a replacement.

How many miles do you have on them??? Normally you can turn these rotors if you have someone that knows what there doing.

You should always have the rotors turned when putting new pads on. Around here places wont' do it unless you bring the whole car in. So its cheaper for me to just put new rotors on most of the time.
Your situation may be different

You can put the pads on and see if you have any pulsing or vibration. Worse case they wear a lil faster and don't work 100% then they would if the rotor was turned or replaced.

rotor life depends on the driver, pads, etc... You will have to check the thickness of the rotor to see if they are
machinable, more than likely just having one set of pads put on them, they should be ok.. However, there are some places
that won't touch any kind of aftermarket rotors (cross drilled, slotted) because those types of rotors can chew up the
resurfacing bits on their brake lathe, so i would call around if you're looking to get them resurfaced.

If somebody will cut the rotors have it done. being that they are cross drilled and slotted, you probably won't find anybody to do it for you.

I have turned the X-drilled/slotted rotors before. The trick is to only take .001" or .002" off at a time. It's time consuming but can be done.

Yeah you just have to find someone capable of doing it. I used to do them in my shop never had any problems with them.

ya never put new pads on old rotors with out getting them turned... Just pad slapping is ok if your gonna sell the car but in time those pads will wear with the rotor and if they are warped alittle it will mess your new pads and then your in the same boat again.. So check with a good shop and see if they will turn them for ya...Its best to have a true surface with new pads to break in properly
