Decided to take my BBK CAI off tonight. Simply wasn't a fan, and I think it was hurting the car on hot days when it got heat-soaked. No time to do a PVC CAI... maybe come springtime...
Got a stock airbox from another member here and went to mount my MAF to it. Small problem. There was an 1/8" gap between the air filter housing and the MAF. Easy way to get a CEL and a shitty running car! Missing gasket I guess...
Thought about it for a few minutes and ran to Home Depot. Snagged a $4 3" PVC pipe cap after testing it against the MAF and the filter housing, and cut the outer ring out of it (~1/8" thick). Secured it to the filter housing with clear RTV, set the MAF down on top of the PVC pipe "gasket," and bolted everything up- no more gap!
If anyone's interested I'll put pics up tomorrow... Letting the silicone take a set then I'll put everything back on tomorrow.
And yes the CAI will be for sale after I clean it up.
